Buddhism isn’t actually a religion, It’s a system of belief sure, but Buddha wasn’t a messianic figure , or supernatural in any way.
He was just really enlightened and shit. Just saying, cos’ it annoys me when people call it a religion. I’ve even interviewed a Theravada Buddhist about this (part of a school project), it’s not a religion, it’s a belief system but is not founded in the belief in any god.

I generally agree, but the whole supernatural rebirth thing is a pretty religious concept, and the rituals too. Also, a lot of Mahayana stuff makes Buddhism into the closest thing possible to a theistic religion (with its celestial Bodhisattvas).
